What's Happening at First Choice Bank

FCB Exit Portfolio Interviews with Local Middle School Students

First Choice Bank continued its five-year partnership with Stacey Middle School and began a new partnership with Johnson Middle School by participating in both schools’ Eighth Grade Exit Portfolio Interviews in 2019. The exit interview process is a great way for the students to assess their academic growth while providing good preparation for real-world job interviews. We are grateful to have been able to share our knowledge with these students and to have been a part of these students’ educational experience.

FCB Scholarships for Local Student Volunteers

In 2019, First Choice Bank provided scholarships totaling $4,500 to eight students from low-income families in the greater Los Angeles area.  These students spent several weekends volunteering with Milal Mission, a nonprofit organization in Santa Fe Springs dedicated to serving individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities and their families.  We are so proud of the selfless efforts of these student volunteers and are pleased to help each of them further their education.

FCB's partnership with Junior Achievement

As part of its ongoing partnership with Junior Achievement (JA), First Choice Bank employees volunteered to help Lemon Crest Elementary students at JA BizTown in San Diego.  The event, which allowed 5th grade students to visit a simulated town to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks and vote for mayor, was a real-world introduction for the kids to discover the connection between spending and having money in a bank.  It was exciting to see the students take charge of their own financial literacy!

FCB's partnership with the ABC Educational Foundation

First Choice Bank was recently recognized for its contributions to the ABC Education Foundation (ABCEF).  The organization provides financial support for the schools within the ABC Unified School District in order to maintain consistently high quality educational opportunities.  As part of its ongoing partnership with ABCEF, the Bank donated funds which were used to help support 23 programs at 15 schools during the 2018-2019 school year.  We are pleased to be part of making a positive difference in the lives of so many children.

Blind Children’s Learning Center

The mission of the Blind Children’s Learning Center (BCLC) is to prepare children with visual impairments for a life of independence through early intervention, education, and family support. First Choice Bank is proud of its long-term relationship with BCLC to help fulfill that mission. Our employees have assisted in creating financial literacy tools which are used in the students’ curriculum, as well as sponsored and participated in the organization’s Annual Destination Independence 5K Walks. We are grateful for the opportunity to help make a positive difference in the lives of these children.

Junior Achievement

As part of its ongoing partnership with Junior Achievement of Southern California, First Choice Bank participated in a JA Day financial literacy event at Monte Vista Elementary School. The day’s activities included students learning about the impact of economic choices, both on a personal level and with the larger consumer population. Our FCB volunteers were inspired by the students’ drive to learn about managing money and were happy to be a part of creating a strong financial foundation for these young adults.

LA Saves

First Choice Bank is pleased to partner with Los Angeles Saves, an organization focused on making savings a priority for everyone. The group’s standard and specialized savings campaigns seek to motivate and encourage low-to-moderate income individuals and families to save money, reduce debt and build wealth over time. FCB is dedicated to working with its clients to achieve their financial goals, and organizations like this make a tremendous impact by encouraging success for everyone.
